Welcome Summer!

Every year I decide to try growing my hair out one more time.
Then every year I get fed up with it and cut it off again - usually when it begins to get hot.

Ta da!

I feel so much lighter! Yea!!

A Quick Look at May

May is usually a busy month - Brice is finishing up the school year and closing up his room for the summer while Cole is finishing up his school year with a bunch of "end-of-the-year" events.

One such event is the elementary school Honors Day where teachers give out awards to outstanding students. Last year, Cole received the Outstanding Achievement in Music award for his class. This year, he was chosen to receive the Outstanding Achievement in Physical Education. He also got a certificate for being on the A Honor Roll all year. My baby! :-)

Also this month, my dad became a doctor! Yes, he is now Dr. Rev. R.T. Cheely. Birmingham Theological Seminary honored my dad with an honorary doctorate for his lifetime of service in ministry. It was a very special moment and dad was obviously surprised and deeply touched. Picture is blurry, but it's all I got!

Oh, and we got a puppy this month!

Finally, Brice and I ended the month with a killer fun date! We used one of our gift cards from our silent auction date basket and went to Sips n' Strokes. We had such a good time! You can bring whatever you want to drink and you get your own canvas to paint a picture with stroke-by-stroke instructions.

And the finished product: (can you tell what it is?)

If you're looking for something different than a dinner/movie night out, try this! It's really fun and it doesn't matter what your painting ends up looking like!

So there's a few highlights from the month!

Progress Report

In the past, I've mentioned a little girl struggling to live through cancer, chemo, and a stem cell transfusion. I thought you might like to see her now:

This is beautiful, sweet Hannah Grace. You can see her hair is coming back in and she's already got her pink accessories back in action! She has to come to the hospital once a week now just for them to check her levels. Basically, she just lacks a strong immune system - you can keep praying for that. Other than that, she's looking good!

It's been a tough year, but God has shown his power and mercy over and over again. Lives have been changed and His glory has prevailed through it all!

Soccer Season

Cole grew a lot in his soccer skills this season. After losing the 1st three games and feeling pretty down, they began playing teams a bit more on their level and had some success. He actually played goalie for parts of the last two games and did really well! Though it's much more nerve-racking for his mom to watch when he's goalie! Here are some shots from a couple of the games.
